 It's A Family Affair

and has been ongoing for 26 years.

Chuck Negron signed as Block Party lead act

Punta Gorda Block Party entertainment director Mike Dallenbach has signed Three Dog Night founder and vocalist Chuck Negron as the lead act for the April 21 street festival in downtown Punta Gorda. Negron’s distinctive and soulful voice was out front on such hit songs as “One (Is the Loneliest Number),” “Old Fashioned Love Song,” “Eli’s Coming,” “Easy to be Hard,” “Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog”and “Joy to the World.” The group, which disbanded in 1977, has sold 90 million albums to date. Although the entertainment schedule isn’t set, Negron will be performing in the late afternoon or early evening on the main stage at Taylor Street and Retta Esplanade.

The Boogiemen- Rock & Soul, Rhythm & Blues and beyond

Founded twenty years ago, “The BoogieMen” is a high-energy ten piece band which specializes in “Rock & Soul Music”. With eight vocalists we blend a variety of musical talents and tastes, which include Folk, Symphony, Jazz, Rhythm & Blues, Rock and Soul, thus presenting a Kaleidoscope of musical expressions.

American Made - Good old Rock, Blues and Funk, that's American Made.

Gotta Luv It Band - A Southwest of Florida that specializes in a mix of classic rock and 50’s oldies. They play songs from artists like Elvis, Roy Orbison, The Rolling Stones, Sam Cooke, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Drifters, The Beatles, Van Morrison, ZZ Top and many more.

Jim Morris - Although Jim’s musical style is admittedly reminiscent of Jimmy Buffett and
Jerry Jeff Walker, he has a knack for defying categorization. He mixes a whimsical island sound with a splash of Texas to produce a sound that is uniquely Gulf and Western.

Also Mike Haymans, Democracy, Copper Head,  and performances
from our local students and much more.

2012 SPONSORS

Each year, for safety reasons, the Punta Gorda Police Department requires all Block Party
street closures to begin at midnight the evening before.

IMPORTANT ROAD CLOSURE INFORMATION

West Marion will be blocked off at both U.S. 41 south and north,
as will Taylor Street at Harborside Drive and Retta Esplanade at Sullivan Street.
Sullivan and Taylor streets south of Marion remain open up to Herald Court to provide access to free parking in the city garage. PGPD asks everyone planning on being downtown past 10 p.m. to park in the
free garage. All blocked streets should re-open around midnight after the Block Party
is over. Do not plan on leaving vehicles parked overnight the night before
within the Block Party perimeter. They are safety hazards during Block Party day,
and PGPD will have them towed.
